How a Memory Upgrade Can Increase the Efficiency of Your Employees

RAM memory

Having a productive workforce capable of handling daily tasks with minimal setbacks is key to running an efficient business. By getting the most from your manpower and maximizing output, your business can make more sales and increase its profit margin. With computers playing such a major role in operations these days, it’s important they function at a high level and are able to meet performance demands.

Here’s how a memory upgrade by adding RAM can increase your employees’ output.

Quicker Program Run Time

Dealing with a laggy computer is not only annoying, but can really hurt productivity when employees have excessive wait times when running programs. Although adding more memory doesn’t necessarily mean it will speed a computer up, it minimizes slowdowns for more of a seamless user experience. This is especially helpful when running high-memory programs because a computer is less likely to resort to virtual memory, which is the main culprit of slowdowns. Adding extra RAM will help your employees work quicker with less frustration so they can accomplish more tasks in less time.

Run Multiple Applications with Ease

Multitasking and running multiple applications at the same time uses a large amount of memory and can bring things to a grinding halt. If a computer has an insufficient amount of RAM, it makes it difficult to transition back and forth from programs. Running browser windows and a word processor document along with a spreadsheet and email platform can be like pulling teeth. By performing a memory upgrade, a computer is less likely to resort to virtual memory and several applications can be ran without affecting their performance. This will make the lives of your employees much easier and they can bounce around between programs with little hassle.

Accelerated Internet Browsing

If your business uses the Cloud or there is heavy Internet use, adding memory can help team members navigate the web much more quickly. Two main factors that determine how fast web pages load is the Internet connection speed and how much memory a computer has. When there is inadequate memory, it’s easy to encounter a slow load time, especially when there is flash content. This becomes even worse when using several windows at the same time and can really put a strain on productivity. A RAM upgrade is an effective solution because a computer will use less of its hard drive memory, which can increase Internet browsing speed considerably.

How Much RAM Should I Add?

If a computer has anything less than 2GB of RAM, it’s hard to get any work done without a struggle. That’s why you will want all of your employees’ computers to have a minimum of 2GB. To improve performance even more and keep things moving, it’s smart to upgrade to 3 or 4GB. In fact, almost all Windows 8 systems come with 3 or 4 GB of RAM and Apple products like iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air come with at least 4GB. If you have older computer models, making this upgrade should ensure a smooth performance. Unless you have some major needs and use extremely high memory programs, 4 GB should suffice. Otherwise, you can opt for 6 to 8GB for a lightning quick system.

Getting a memory upgrade is a smart decision when your current computers simply aren’t cutting it. For a relatively small investment, you can count on significantly better performance where team members can go about their daily tasks with greater efficiency. When you consider the increase in productivity, the money you spend on extra RAM will often pay for itself in time.
